Lawsuit underscores transportation challenges for people with disabilities, their families

“I think sometimes even if you’re talking about a small business or something, they sometimes don’t even know exactly that they’re doing something wrong, or there’s an issue. I mean, I think it’s different with a big corporation like Lyft, but a lot of times people need to be educated. “

Lyft offers wheelchair-accessible vehicles (WAV) in select major cities – with no such options for riders outside those areas. Ansel Lurio, a power wheelchair user who is part of a pending class action lawsuit against the ride-sharing company, joins Alabama Care to talk about ongoing legislative efforts and transportation in rural America.
